Cricbet99 and India’s 2026 online money gaming rules

India’s national framework changed materially. The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 came into force on 22 April 2026 and contains express prohibitions covering online money games, related advertising and fund transfers.

What the Act says at a high level

Section 5

Online money games

The Act prohibits offering an online money gaming service, and prohibits assisting, abetting or inducing a person to play an online money game.

Section 6

Advertising

It prohibits advertisements in any media that directly or indirectly promote or induce participation in an online money game.

Section 7

Fund transfers

It prohibits banks and other persons who facilitate financial transactions from enabling transfers for online money gaming services.

22 Aug 2025The Act received its enactment date.
22 Apr 2026Commencement was notified; rules and the Online Gaming Authority of India were also notified/constituted.
05 Jun 2026The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting published a further advisory concerning endorsements and ads for offshore online betting/gambling platforms.
